Places of interest in Medjugorje
The three main spiritual places of Medjugorje are the Church of St. James, the Podbrdo (hill of apparitions) and the Krizevac (mountain of the cross). Our Lady has appeared here continuously since 1981. On June 25, 2023 we will celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the apparitions.
St. James Church
The Church of St. James in Medjugorje is the prayer heart of parishioners and pilgrims in Medjugorje. The evening program (Holy Rosary, Holy Mass, Adoration) starts every day at 5.00 pm (summer time from 6.00 pm).
Podbrdo Apparition Hill
Podbrdo, Apparition Hill, is the place where six kids saw Our Lady, Queen of Peace, starting on June 24th, 1981.
Thousands of messages, given in the last 41 years, invite above all to conversion, prayer, fasting, Sacred Scripture, Holy Mass and frequent sacraments (confession and Eucharist).
Krizevac Mount of the Cross
It is the mountain of the cross, because a large cross was erected by the parishioners of Medjugorje in 1933.
Every Friday it is possible to walk and meditate on the Via Crucis together with the Franciscan friars of the parish.
