Hotel Željko grew through the dedication and hard work of a family born and raised in Međugorje—a special place of prayer, peace, and spiritual strength, where, as many say, heaven meets earth. Guided by love for their homeland and a desire to offer guests a sincere welcome, the family decided to open the doors of their home to all who come to Međugorje in search of peace, silence, and spiritual fulfillment. The hotel began as a small family-run establishment shortly after the first apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Podbrdo Hill. In those early years, it served as a refuge for pilgrims arriving from all over the world, bringing with them different languages, cultures, and life stories, yet sharing a common desire—to find peace and spiritual renewal. It was during this time that the philosophy of the hotel was shaped and continues to be cherished today: simplicity, warmth, and genuine care for every guest.
